Jide Kosoko Escaped Death By Whiskers

Nollywood actor, Jide Kosoko was lucky to escape death on Wednesday, February 26th, 2014, while driving around the Ikeja Shopping Mall, his car lost control due to brake failure and it was a miraculous survival for the former president of the Association of Nigerian Theatre Practitioners (ANTP)

He was helped medically by the Emergency unit of 7-Up with the kind support of LASTMA officials. He did not suffer any major injury neither was there a casualty but the car was badly damaged, just few weeks ago the actor celebrated his 60th birthday anniversary.

A statement has been released which reads “This is to say a big thank you to all concerned about Prince Jide Kosoko and to confirm that he is in sound health after God saved him from an auto crash at Alausa, Ikeja, yesterday…he is in sound health, having sustained no injury from the mishap. Please disregard any unhealthy rumour.”

NDLEA Arrests Popular Comedian For Drug Ingestion

This is a huge public embarrassment! Celebrities are mostly seen as role models and mentors but the reverse is the case now for this popular comedian that was caught with drugs....

A very popular Ghanaian comedian, Musah Iddrisu, and a Congolese, Inana Cedrick, have been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, for ingesting drug.

Iddrisu and Cedrick were arrested during the inward and outward screening of Ethiopian airline passengers respectively at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.

Mr. Udoh Nsikak-Abasi, NDLEA Commander at the airport said, “Iddrisu was found to have ingested 450 grammes of cocaine. He was on his way to Thailand. Cedrick was caught with 1.500 kilogrammes of heroin which he tried importing into the country.

“A third suspect, a Nigerian, John Nwadilichukwu, was also arrested. He was to receive Cedrick at the airport, collect the drug and pay him for smuggling the drug.”

The heroin was said to have been hidden inside a luggage. Twenty-year-old Cedrick, who claimed to be a secondary school student in Tanzania, said, “I was given the drug in Nairobi by a Nigerian woman who told me to give the drug to her husband, Nwadilichukwu, in Enugu.

“I wanted to use the money they promised to pay me in buying beads for sale in Tanzania. I am a secondary school student from a poor home.”
Iddrisu, aka Charles Udunehi, who bought the cocaine for $19,000, said he had wanted to sell them in Thailand.

He said, “I got involved in drug trafficking because of my financial predicament.

I bought the drugs in Ghana, ingested it and came to Enugu airport. As it is a new airport, I felt the security will not be like other airports, but I was wrong.”

Chairman of the NDLEA, Mr. Ahmadu Giade, said adequate efforts had been made to apprehend drug traffickers at the Enugu airport.

He said, “We have already deployed our officials to the Enugu airport before it commenced international flights. Adequate security measures have been put in place to apprehend drug traffickers at the airport.

Ex-lover forces girlfriend to drink acid

A 23-year-old man, Christian Samuel, has been arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend by forcing her to drink acid.
Samuel, who has been remanded in the Ikoyi Prison by an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court, allegedly forced Ijeoma Nwachukwu, 26, to drink acid while they were together at Cossy-Inn Hotel, Abule-Oshun, Lagos State.

The police said Nwachukwu had gotten engaged to another man without Samuel’s knowledge. Samuel pretended not be offended and invited Nwachukwu to the hotel on January 11, where he forced her to drink acid leading to her death.

Samuel abandoned the corpse in the hotel and fled. Police said the owner of the hotel, Olusegun Sangojumo, who allegedly discovered the corpse, did not report to police.
Rather Sangojumo allegedly instructed his manager, Kehinde Ajibola, and one of the workers, Azeez Olaitan, to dispose of the corpse at the Mile 2 end of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
Samuel has been charged with murder and Sangojumo, Ajibola and Olaitan have charged with accessory after the fact.

Photos: White Robber Who Disguised As A Black Man To Rob Banks In Ohio Arrested

A white man who disguises as a black man to rob in Ohio has been arrested by the Police. Conrad Zdzierak, 30, wears a black mask which makes him look like someone else before carrying out the task. A black man in the State was wrongfully accused and arrested for one of the six robberies carried out by Conrad. Zdzierak's masked resemblance to the black man was so similar that some witnesses even identified a photo of the black man as the one who robbed them. In another similar manner, the mother of the wrongly accused man even thought a photo of the robbery suspect she saw on television was that of her son.

Zdzierak was arrested at a hotel after his girlfriend called police when she saw reports of the robbery and found two masks and money stained by dye that is used to track robbers. Conrad pleaded guilty on Monday and has been charged to court.

In all, he stole $15,000 when he robbed four banks, a credit union and a pharmacy that occurred in March and April last year. He faces up to 35 years in prison if found guilty.

It is no more news that the relationship between Juju maestro, Sir Shina Peters, and Nollywood icon, Clarion Chukwura, produced celebrated music video director, Clarence Peters. But what some may not know is that Clarence started having to relate with his father well about five years ago.
The young peters disclosed recently that it was about five years ago that he began understanding his dad's person.
Clarence said “I started having a relationship with him five years ago. When one starts having a relationship with one’s father when one is older, one tends to understand a lot of things about him which one will not understand as a kid. I understand a lot of his mistakes; I relate with his mistakes and empathise with them. I understand where he was coming from. When we have discussions now, I understand the conversations more, which I am not sure I would have if I were still a kid.

Asked he was attracted to his father’s works “I am not attracted to my father’s body of works. I am mostly attracted to his choice of percussions and the melodies. I am enthralled by the way he does it. I think my father’s best performance for me was when I was in his house one day. There was no light and he was drinking a bottle of Gulder. He took his acoustic guitar and played for an hour. I know that he has not done his best work yet. Nigerians are ready for him to do his best work but he doesn’t believe they are ready for him. Those who know him will agree that he has not done his best work.

Gunmen kidnap President Jonathan's cousin in Bayelsa

According to a report President Jonathan's cousin, Chief Inengite Nitabai was abducted yesterday Sunday February 23rd in the Otuoke community in Bayelsa State by unknown gunmen.

Nitabai, who is said to be the compound chief of Jonathan’s family, was abducted by 10 suspected kidnappers about 9pm yesterday. Six of the assailants reportedly forced their way into the house, while the remaining four stayed outside, monitoring activities. They robbed the home and left with chief Nitabia in his Sports Utility Vehicle. Continue...

“Information has it that Chief Inengite Nitabai was abducted by about 10 unknown gunmen about 9pm at Otuoke community in Ogbia Local Government  Area by using his private vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered at Onuebum community waterfront. The Deputy Commander, JTF, Commodore Ime Ekpa and a team of security agents have visited the location to assess the crime scene.” 
He said investigation was in progress to unmask the kidnappers and rescue the victim.

 The gunmen numbering about 10, walked in quietly into his compound and abducted him without firing a single shot. According to his in-law who witnessed the scenario, the gunmen asked them to all lie down when five hefty men out of them walked into the living. They also asked his wife to give them money, and she gave them the N400,000 at home with her. They moved him into their vehicle and also took away his SUV, before driving off, she said.

EME Singer Niyola Survives 3rd Mainland Bridge Auto Accident

First Lady of EME records, Eniola ‘Niyola’ Akinbo survived a ghastly auto accident.
According to Nigerian Entertainment Today, Niyola was driving from Lekki, Lagos, where she had just finished a meeting, in a Honda CRV on Saturday, February 22, 2014, at about 7PM. Niyola had just exited the third mainland bridge on her way to the mainland area of Lagos when the accident occurred at the Oworonshoki axis.

A vehicle which was trying to overtake Niyola’s car hit her CRV from behind, which sent the latter’s car tumbling. The car is said to have tumbled three times before hitting a tree by the roadside.
The EME first lady was immediately taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. The Honda CRV has also been towed away from the accident spot.

A rep of the singer’s has confirmed the accident and also confirmed that the singer wasn’t driving alone but with a friend. The other passenger is said to also be doing fine.
‘Yes, it’s true. But she’s okay. It’s unbelievable that they survived,’ the rep said.

OKON GOES PRE-SHOPPING FOR BABY WEARS

Well, after yesterday work, I had to accompany Bishop Imeh Umoh (Okon Lagos) to the Mall, for a little shopping for the baby he is expecting. His wife is heavy at the moment and we might hear the cry of a baby very soon.

He is a very close friend, and after wish we had to stop and watch a little movie in the Cinema.

Guess what? I didn’t join watching the movie, I ball out to play (Playstation 3) lol.

Australian TV star commits suicide after receiving abuse on Twitter

Australian TV star and former model Charlotte Dawson killed herself after receiving abuse from vicious trolls on Twitter just hours before she died. (left is the last pic of her which she posted on her Instagram page on Friday, a day before she killed herself)

Famed for TV shows such as 'Australia's Next Top Model, the New Zealand-born star, 47, had a history of depression.

She was found dead in her Sydney apartment yesterday morning February 22nd. Police said there were no suspicious circumstances. She had taken prescription tablets with wine and tweeted: 'you win' in a suicide note to her cyber tormentors. Continue...

New Zealand Prime Minister John Key tweeted he was 'shocked and saddened' by the news of her death.

The Sun-Herald newspaper in Sydney reported Sunday that her body was found only minutes before her luxury waterside apartment was due to be sold at auction.

Last Of Sound Of Music Von Trapp Family Dies

The last surviving member of the Trapp Family Singers, whose escape from Nazi-occupied Austria was portrayed in the musical The Sound Of Music, has died aged 99. Maria von Trapp passed away at her home in Vermont in the US, according to her half-brother Johannes von Trapp.

"She was a lovely woman who was one of the few truly good people," said Mr von Trapp, who was born to Ms von Trapp's father and step-mother.

"There wasn't a mean or miserable bone in her body. I think everyone who knew her would agree with that."

Ms von Trapp was one of the original Trapp Family Singers, whose story became a Broadway musical in 1959 and a blockbuster film starring Dame Julie Andrews in 1965.

She was the third of seven children born to Austrian Naval Captain Georg von Trapp and his first wife, Agathe Whitehead von Trapp.

The seven children formed the basis for the singing family in The Sound Of Music, which won an Oscar for best picture.

Ms von Trapp was portrayed as Louisa in both the film and musical.

The von Trapp family escaped from Nazi-occupied Austria in 1938. After they arrived in New York, the family became popular with concert audiences.

The family eventually settled in Vermont, where they opened a ski lodge in Stowe.

I’m Happy My Daughter Has Been Vindicated! Slain Banker’s Father Speaks After Judgement

Titilayo’s father, Mr. George Oyakhire has spoken after his son in-law; Akolade Arowolo was sentenced to death yesterday by a Lagos High Court. He says though he is not happy that things turned out this way, but he is happy that his daughter has been vindicated. He also said he was glad that Arowolo’s parents were put in their place after they claimed his daughter committed suicide. He also said his grandchild, the couple’s 5-year old daughter is doing fine and will be told the truth when she’s grown and starts asking questions.

“The Bible says that you should not rejoice at the downfall of your enemy. I feel bad about all this because this was a boy I assisted in every way I could. He even said when giving evidence in court that we were close and this is very true. I assisted him when he needed me and even though he was jobless; my daughter (Titilayo) also helped him.

I am happy the judge berated Akolade’s parents for telling lies in court. They bad-mouthed my daughter and even claimed that she committed suicide. I am happy that my daughter has been vindicated.  I have also been vindicated because I told the whole truth in court. I leave everything to God”.

Female Lawyer Tortures Househelp, Inflicts Him With Wounds

 

A Female legal practitioner, Barrister Florence Ujinka who is married to a medical doctor, Marcel Ujinka is being investigated by the police in Calabar, the Cross River State capital for allegedly using a disused car fan belt to inflict bodily harm on her house help, Chidera Asonye Nathaniel.

The legal practitioner and her husband who reside at Parliamentary Extension by Exceltech Filling Station Calabar are said to have brought the 13 years old Chidera from Anambra State to Calabar in 2012 to serve as their house help but the lady has since been subjecting the boy to torture and inhuman treatment.

A report by a Child Rights Group in Calabar, Basic Rights Counsel Initiative to the police that led to her investigation stated “Mrs Florence Ujinka has been subjecting Chidera to inhuman and degrading treatment by torturing him with an automobile fan belt and in the process inflicting him with severe wounds on his body”.

The report stated that the boy who is a pupil of State Housing Primary School, Atekong Drive in Calabar the Cross River State capital was trafficked by “learned and educated people who know the law on child trafficking and yet still subjected him to torture and inhuman treatment”.

Mr James Ibor, the head of Basic Rights Initiative said the treatment of the boy by Barrister Ujinka and her husband establishes a prima facie case of “torture, inhuman and degrading treatment and child trafficking against the couple”.

Mr Hogan Bassey the Police Public Relations spokesman for the Cross River Police Command said the matter is being investigated and the culprit would be brought to book soon and made to face the law”.

Why Judge Sentenced Slain Banker Titilayo’s Husband To Death

Justice Lateefat Okunnu of the Ikeja High Court, on Friday, convicted Akolade Arowolo who murdered his wife, Titilayo, at their Isolo residence in 2011.

In sentencing Mr. Arowolo to death, the judge said that the prosecution proved their case beyond reasonable doubt and established that the defendant was responsible for his wife’s death.

Mrs. Okunnu said that she reached her verdict by relying on the evidences of the pathologist who conducted a post-mortem examination on the deceased’s corpse, the parents of the convict who were “not witnesses of truth”, and the contradictory statements of the convict.

AGN’s Visit To Jonathan: Segun Arinze Replies Kabat Esosa

Segun Arinze has replied Nollywood Film maker, Kabat Esosa for taking a shot at them because they went to visit the country’s president. According to Esosa, the visit to him is meaningless, because it won’t eradicate employment nor will it wipe the tears of those who are suffering. Segun Arinze felt the statement was wrong and made it clear to the film maker, that their motive was positive and there’s nothing wrong in visiting President Jonathan because AGN is a body on its own. More so we all transported ourselves there with our own money, he said. Find what Esosa said before now, and how Segun Arinze replied him after the cut.

‘One question I think begs an answer from them is; what was the reason and value of the Presidential visit? How have their visit added anything to the hue and cry in the country in respect of security, unemployment etc.‘

Mr Segun Arinze’s reply;

I think it’s so unfair for anyone to criticise AGN for paying a courtesy visit to President Goodluck Jonathan. We are an Association in Nollywood and our visit was to discuss issues as it affects our Guild and the industry in general.  Everybody transported themselves to and fro.

We didn’t go begging for alms. Pls do read Madam President Ibinabo Fiberisma’s  speech. Kabat’s statement was totally uncalled for.  We have a right to visit GEJ after all he’s the president of the federal Republic of Nigeria, Segun said.

Chyke Bryan who is the president of screen writers guild is down with kidney problem. What has the members of that guild of whom Kabat is also a member done to raise money for his treatment?  They should stop poking their noses in other people’s business.  And focus on how to move the industry forward instead of bickering and sulking like Children. Making a mountain out of a molehill.’

Proof: Court Issues Exparte Order Against The Arrest Of Sanusi Lamido

A Federal High Court in Lagos today has barred the agents of the Nigerian police and State Security Services from arresting the suspended governor of the Central Bank Of Nigeria, Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.
