CHURCH SECURES FREEDOM OF 100 INMATE IN KIRIKIRI PRISON

The Nigeria Prisons Service (NPS) on Thursday released 100 inmates from the Kirikiri Medium Security Prison that had satisfied the laid down conditions.

Mr. Tunde Ladipo, Controller of Prison Lagos State, said that the inmates were arrested for various offenses ranging from street trading, wondering and some as miscreants on different streets in Lagos State.
According to Ladipo, some churches and individuals collaborated and settled the various fines meted out to the inmates.

Nigerian Drug Peddler Nabbed In India - Crime -




Bengaluru: Central Crime Branch (CCB) Police have nabbed a 32 year-old Nigerian for indulging in drug peddling and seized from him 2 gram banned drug MDMA, one mobile and his Passport.

Police said that the arrested was identified as Amselam Chogoze Udeoha native of Uli, Nigeria and in the city he was staying in Dheerajgowda Layout, K R Puram, Bengaluru.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that he was overstaying after expiry of his Visa and he had obtained Sim cards by producing fake ID as student of Karnataka Open University.

Overall Leader of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu According to him, he rejected because that did not constitute the complete Biafra, saying that he told them that he wanted a Biafra with Rivers and Benue States inclusive.

The IPOB leader also claimed that he was offered an oil block and mansion in Dubai aimed at making him to abandon the cause but that he rejected them and insisted on the actualization of Biafra.

Willy Obiano Warns Nnamdi Kanu: Steer Clear Of Anambra Elections Or Risk Arrest - Politics


The Anambra governor, Willie Obiano, on Wednesday warned the Indigenous People Of Biafra to steer clear of the state during the November 18 poll.

The governor threatened to go after anybody who would pose a threat to the poll, no matter how highly placed.

The governor, who insisted that there would be election in the state, said the pro-Biafra agitators had no powers anywhere in the law to stop the poll.

The police in Ogun State have foiled the attempt of a 44 - year -old bricklayer, Mukaila Alatunse, to kidnap his neighbour, Precious Ogundiran, a student.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Ogundiran lives with her parents at Lemode , in the Ijoko area of the state and is the only child of the family.

Alatunse was said to have discussed his plan to abduct Ogundiran with a vigilante in the neighbourhood, telling him that they could get as much as N 5m ransom from her parents.

Police Kills 2 Arm Robbers

ENCOUNTER WITH ARMED ROBBERS.

On 10th July, 2017 at about 2100hrs along Kano/Zaria road at a point close to Garun Mallam Village, the road was blocked by a gang of armed robbers. Immediately they sighted the Police Patrol vehicle, they opened fire while the Police retaliated with superior firework, thereby gunning down 2 of the armed robbers while others fled into the bush with gun injuries. 1 locally made AK 47 rifle, 1 revolver pistol, 12 live ammunition, charms and torchlight were recovered. Members of the public and hospitals are requested to report to nearest Police Station of anybody seen with bullet injuries for clarification.

Boko Haram Ex-combatants Undergo Rehabilitation After Surrender (Photos)


The second batch of 52 Boko Haram terrorists said to have surrendered to the Nigerian military are now undergoing deradicalization and rehabilitation programme. The exercise, under the Operation Safe Corridor (OPSC) is put in place by the federal government in order to restore peace to the North East.

Addressing the repentant ex-combatants at the camp on Saturday, Coordinator of the OPSC, Major-General Bamidele Shafa congratulated the Boko Haram members for choosing to surrender.

He charged them to take advantage of the window of opportunity provided at the camp to become better citizens, while also advising them to be disciplined and conduct themselves according to the rules, regulations of the camp.

Four policemen attached to Ijebu-Ode Area Command in Ogun state has been sacked by the Inspector-General of Police Ibrahim Idris.

The officers were sacked because they extorted N50,000 from a man they arrested on a trumped-up charge.

The affected policemen are: Mufutau Olaosun, Adebayo Temitope, Bakare Taiwo and Adesoye Ayokunlehin.

'Evans is safe in our custody' - Police

The Nigeria police force has denied media reports that notorious kidnapper, Evans, has vanished from police cell. Earlier today, The Sun Newspaper published a report alleging that the kidnapper who was arrested on June 10th in Lagos, was no longer in Lagos police custody and his whereabouts was no longer known.

An ex - customs official, Ngwoke Emmanuel , has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for smuggling cannabis through the Seme border to Lagos Island.

He told officials after his arrest that he was paid half a million naira to smuggle the drugs disguised as used clothes.

The cannabis , which weighed 394 kg , was seized by Customs officers at the Gbaji checking-point along the Lagos - Badagry Expressway.

He was immediately transferred to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for investigation.

'It is either Biafra or death' - IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu says

In a new interview with Channels TV, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, says for him, it is either Biafra or death. Kanu said he would not be going to war if it turns out to be the last option for the actualization of his struggle for Biafra.

When asked if there is anything he can accept asides a Federation for Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu replied "No. It is either Biafra or death".

CALABAR— A 70 million Naira ransom has been placed on Pharmacist Uzodinma Nwagu, the son of Francis Nwagu, owner of a popular pharmacy shop in Calabar.

He was reportedly kidnapped Monday night, when he went to collect the day’s sales from his father’s pharmacy, Karmel Pharmacy, located along Goldie Street, Calabar.

Armed Robbers Intercept Bullion Van in ondo

 
Armed robbers earlier today intercepted a bullion van carrying cash from a new bank in Akure to another bank in Ondo town of Ondo State. Though the robbers were in the end unable to get any cash from the van.

The armed robbers, who were ten in number, injured some police escorts and bank officials at Ireje village in Ondo East local government area of the state around 1pm today, Wednesday 5th, July 2017.

An eye witness, who is a resident of the village narrated to Fabinfos that the armed robbers intercepted the bullion van, shot directly at the van and in the process wounded the police escorts in the other Hilux van.

Court Hears Kidnapper Evans’ Case Against Police On July


The Federal High Court in Lagos has fixed July 13 for hearing in a N300m fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by suspected kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike a.k.a. Evans, against the Inspector-General of Police.

Evans, through his lawyer, Olukoya Ogungbeje, filed the suit last week urging the court to order the police to charge him to court or release him immediately.

He urged the court to award N300m damages against the police in his favour for his alleged unlawful detention without being charged to court.

Police hunt for criminal who was mistakenly released just a few months into his sentence due to a clerical error

A manhunt is underway in London for 25 yearold Ralston Dodd, a dangerous knifeman released from prison just a few months into his sentence due to a clerical court error. 
Ralston was sentenced to nine years in jail after he stabbed Jerrell Holland in the back three times in north London last September. However, a staff at the court misheard the judge and wrote down nine months instead of nine years. 
 
The UK's Ministry of Justice in a statement said, 'releases in error are extremely rare but we take any case very seriously. We are urgently investigating so we learn the lessons to prevent it happening again. Public protection is our priority. A warrant has been issued and police are pursuing the offender."

Justice Josephine Oyefeso of an Ikeja High Court handed down the verdict after Brown pleaded guilty to the charge. Brown was sentenced after entering into a plea bargain with the EFCC.

As part of the terms of the agreement, he pleaded guilty to a one-count amended charge of obtaining money by false pretences.

The convict obtained 3,650 dollars online from Mr Thomas Nublin of the United States of America. The Lagos office of the EFCC in July 2014, received a petition from the U.S. Army alleging that some persons traced to Nigeria defrauded some members of the U.S. Army of over 13,000 dollars in a romance scam.

The EFCC investigated and was able to trace some of the funds amounting to 3,650 dollars to EcoBank Plc via Moneygram which was received by the convict. The convict, in the course of the investigation, refunded the said some to the authorities.

Breaking: Osinbajo risks impeachment as Senate asks him to withdraw statement on powers of confirmation

STRONG indications have emerged on Tuesday that the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo risks being impeached if the executive fails to carry out the decisions of the Senators as the Senate has asked him to as a matter of urgency withdraw his statement that the National Assembly lacks the powers to confirm nominations from the President.

The Senate has also vowed to suspend all issues relating to confirmation from the Executive until such matters of confirmation as contained in the constitution were strictly adhered to, just as it urged the Acting President to respect the constitution of the land. The Senate has also asked Acting President Osinbajo to respect rejections of nominees by the Senate.

Resolutions of the Senate were sequel to a point of Order raised by Senator Ahmed Sani, APC, Zamfara West that a letter from Acting President Osinbajo on the appointment of Lanre Gbajabiamila as the Director General, National Lottery Commission.

Soon after Senate President Bukola Saraki read the letter from the Acting President, Senator Ahned Sani raised the point of Order which later generated hot debate from other Senators.

Senate Orders Osinbajo To Remove Magu, Suspends Appointment Confirmation


THE Senate, on Tuesday, called on Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to remove Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu.

While suspending all confirmation of appointments until compliance with its resolution, the senate said the time has come for the Executive arm of government to obey its resolutions.
