Jonathan replies Amaechi, plans to fix Rivers roads

President Goodluck Jonathan seems to have found a reply to Governor Rotimi Amaechi’s accusation that he has failed to execute federal projects in Rivers state. Jonathan now plans to complete Bodo-Bonny and Onne Axis of East-West roads.

Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Rivers State Chapter, Felix Obuah, expressed satisfaction over Jonathan’s assurances on the completion of the roads and the Onne axis of the East-West Road in Rivers state, which were abandoned by the previous administration.
Obuah commended Jonathan, who he describes as a man that matches his words with action. He noted that Jonathan has shown his sensitivity to the plight of the people of the area and his commitment to enhancing the economic potential of the state and safety of goods and personnel conveyed through the roads.

Obuah observes that fixing the two important roads will help boost economic activities through which the respective local and state governments will generate huge revenues that will quicken the anticipated development in the area, noting that such action by the President further demonstrates the effectiveness of his transformation programme which is being felt in the six geo-political zones of Nigeria.
The PDP Chairman also noted that the President has by this commitment proved that governance is a continuous process, as projects initiated but abandoned by the Olusegun Obasanjo administration have now received rapid attention and would be wholly completed by the present administration.
Obuah therefore, called on the people of the area and the entire Rivers people, including other Nigerians that will be using the roads to support the Jonathan administration and also come out en-mass to vote for him (Jonathan) for a second term in office and for the PDP to continue the good works they have started.
He stressed that no other President has done what Jonathan has achieved within the period in office, adding that these laudable initiatives and concerns by the President should be reciprocated by giving him and the Peoples Democratic Party overwhelming votes in the 2015 general elections.

Military confirms 3 dead in yesterday's helicopter crash in Yola

The Nigeria military has released a statement confirming the crash of its patrol helicopter yesterday night in Yola and also revealed that 3 crew members aboard the helicopter died in the crash. Find the statement below

"At about 2200hours yesterday 13 November 2014, a ground attack helicopter on an armed patrol crashed around the Federal University of Technology Yola, Adamawa State. The crew of 3 was lost in the ill-fated accident. Rescue party worked throughout the night to preserve the wreckage of the aircraft and scene of the accident for proper investigation to be carried out. Further details would be made known later."

Alaba Trader Kills Customer During Price Negotiation

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a trader, Mr. Lawrence Ikonne, for allegedly killing a buyer, Isa Yaya, because the deceased haggled over the price of a commodity.

The incident occurred at Ikonne’s residence on Afro Close, Afromedia Estate, Okokomaiko, Lagos. Ikonne is a trader selling electronic appliances at Alaba International Market, Ojo, Lagos.

It was learnt that the victim, 22-year-old Yaya, from northern Nigeria, had gone to Ikonne’s apartment to buy a fairly used air conditioner. Yaya, it was said, usually bought and re-sold condemned iron and electrical materials.

Punch gathered that Ikonne, 26, from the Isiala-Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State, had gone to Alaba market on the morning of Friday, October 10, where he first met Yaya, then invited him to his house to buy his fairly used air conditioner.

When they got to the house, it was said that the two of them went inside a room to bring out the commodity, and they started haggling over the price.

Nigerian rap and hip-hop artiste, Owoloye Oluwabukunmi Olatunde, otherwise known as JahBless, is planning to walk his baby mama of two children down the aisle in 2015. He made this known recently in an interview with Encomium Magazine.

Though the talented singer did not give a specific time in 2015 when he will hold the marriage, but he stressed that it would happen next year.

Breaking news: CAF drops Morocco as host of 2015 African Cup of Nations

The Confederation of African Football CAF today dropped Morocco as host of the 2015 African Cup of Nations which is billed to start from Jan 17th-Feb 9th 2015. At an executive committee meeting which held this morning in Cairo Egypt, CAF's leadership said the decision to drop Morocco was as a result of the Moroccan authority's request to postpone the competition due to Ebola fears.

CAF leadership says they cannot postpone the competition and have withdrawn the rights of Morroco to host it. The Morrocan national team was also flung out of the competition. Find the statement from CAF as posted on their website after the cut...

My Presidential Victory Has Been Prophesied + It Has Been Zoned To Igbo Land - Okorocha

Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha, yesterday in Enugu declared his intention of contesting for next year’s presidential election, saying his victory had been prophesied.

While addressing the large crowd that turned up for his presidential declaration, Okorocha said;

“Three months ago when I said I want to be president they asked, “Can an Igboman be president?”

“But now when they count those contesting for president they will first count Rochas Okorocha, before Buhari, Atiku Abubakar and Kwankwaso.

“When they said they have zoned the presidency to the North, I asked, “When was the meeting held?”

“Now we have zoned it to Igboland. In 2015, there will be a turnaround in the fortunes of Ndigbo.”

He also accused president jonathan and prominent Igbo PDP politicians of not caring about the well being of Igbo.

“They only know themselves; they don’t care about Igbo. APC is an emergency party for a new Nigeria; I would not have joined APC if PDP was doing well. We will defeat PDP in 2015,” he declared.

About the 47 students that died yesterday in Yobe, Rochas Okorocha says PDP has failed God.
