Residents Near Shagari Plaza, Customers Flee As Explosion Takes Place In Premises

Customers and residents near the Shagari plaza on Moshood Abiola way, Garki Area one in Abuja all fled for their lives this evening as explosions occurred within the premises.
At around 5:17pm this evening, a loud noise was heard and suddenly another one heard and it kept occurring for some minutes which left people confused and suspected it was Islamic sect, Boko Haram at work again.

But according to sources, it was a gas cylinder that exploded and a Jeep packed beside it also went up in flames. The fire spread and other cylinders caught fire.
The gas retailer who tried to save some money he had made during the day which was kept under one of the cylinders rushed for it, but was also caught up in the fire. He is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital, and soldiers have been sent to the plaza to monitor activities.
