Photo: Teenager arrested in Ikorodu for allegedly selling bar of soap as mobile phones

The Operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of Lagos State Police Command, have apprehended an 18 -year-old boy, Segun Adeyefa, for allegedly selling bar of soap as mobile phones to unsuspecting members of public in traffic.

The suspect was arrested by the RRS men on routine patrol of Ikorodu Motor Park yesterday at about 19:50 hrs, while trying to defraud a young man at the motor park.

Upon his arrival at RRS’s Headquarters, the suspect confessed that before he was caught on Tuesday, he had duped one person of N3,500 who wanted to buy the phone.

He noted that he was lured into the fraud after he was duped through a similar means about a year ago.

Cameroonians welcome Samuel Nlend who was sacked for being HIV-positive back home (photos)

Samuel Nlend, 21, is back in Cameroon, after being sacked by an Egyptian football club, Al Ittihad, for allegedly testing HIV positive during the club's standard medical test routine. 
The 21-year-old footballer's friends, teammates and fans came out in their numbers to welcome him back home. Cameroonians are reeling in anger and have called for the club to be sued for violating Samuel's right to privacy by making his HIV test results public. 


The SYNAFOC (Syndicat national des footballeurs camerounais) has even promised to take legal actions against the Egyptian club.

Hajiya Aisha Wakil, who is believed to be close to the Boko Haram leadership, says the group is ready for talks with the Federal Government on the fate of the 219 missing Chibok girls.

She said yesterday that she had been on the neck of the Boko Haram leaders, who according to her offered to honour her to dialogue with the government and release the girls and other captives.

The group’s leadership might soon make a pronouncement on their plan for the girls, she said.

Hajiya Aisha, who spoke with our correspondent on the phone, said she expected the Boko Haram leaders to come out and discuss with the government.

 The latest 'proof' that the rapper is not dead is a selfie (left) included in a YouTube video allegedly showing Tupac - or a man who looks similar to him. Subtitles in the video allege the picture was taken in in 2015 on a phone 'made in 2011'. The clip has been watched more than 1.4 million times.

Delhi Police bust job racket, 2 Nigerian nationals arrested

Delhi Police Crime Branch arrested two foreign nationals, identified as Michael James and Umeadi Valentine Chigozie from Mandawali area of Delhi. They were arrested on a complaint received by the cyber cell for a case of cheating in Cyberabad, Telangana.
Police recovered 52 SIM cards, two Data Cards, three Laptops and five mobile phones from their possession. The recovery includes the mobile phone used in the case of cheating.

THE CASE
The cyber cell of the Delhi Police received a complaint from M Ganagalakshami. She alleged that "Some unknown frauds cheated her with the amount of Rs 2,25,600/- on the pretext of providing her job opportunity in Qatar Airways Co. The frauds took this amount from time to time as Visa charges, Processing fee, Medical fee and to transfer Access Code etc."
The complainant also provided alleged email IDs and mobile phone numbers used by the accused persons to dupe her. A resident of Telangana, Gangalakshami had also registered a complained under the IT Act at the Cyber Crime Police Station in Cyberabad.

Three men who specialize in breaking into shops at the Mushin and Ladipo Auto Spare parts market in Lagos state are telling Federal Special Anti- robbery Squad FSARS policemen how they perpetrate the act.

The suspects were arrested following a tip off that they were allegedly breaking into a building material stall to cart away valuables and cash but luck ran out on three members of the six man gang as they were nabbed in the act.

Government House Accountant in Bayelsa State, Ritchie Etonye, said he was not at home when a team of policemen numbering about 50 invaded his house on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, and therefore could not have absconded.
He also said that contrary to reports, no money was found in his house while, "it is not true that any money belonging to the governor was stolen."

51-year-old Woman Caught With Heroin At Lagos Airport



Akinyemi Monsurat Olajumoke, who hails from Ogun State, was nabbed with four parcels of heroin, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, during inward screening of passengers on an Ethiopia Airlines flight from Entebbe, Uganda.

Narrating how she got involved in the act of drug pushing, 51-year-old Olajumoke said:
"I am a trader. I used to buy female clothes from India for sale. However, due to family problems and the economic situation, my capital is getting smaller and I wanted to expand my business. I was introduced into drug trafficking by a friend who invited me to Uganda.

Joseph Nyumah Boaka Visits Osinbajo


African nations have to work together especially in developing their economies for the benefit of their people ahead of other forms of international cooperation.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, expressed this view today while receiving the visiting Vice President of Liberia, Mr. Joseph Nyumah Boakai in his office at the Presidential Villa.

According to him, "we have to help ourselves first before others come, we should look for ways we can benefit each other."

Prof. Osinbajo observed that there are Nigerian business people that can invest in Liberia, suggesting the creation of a bilateral economic council that can bring business interests from both countries together.

"We must engender stronger relationships between our countries, that is what Africans need," the Nigerian Vice President stated, adding that Nigeria and Liberia need to work together "to develop our economies."

Mr Joachim Chinakwe, The 40-year-old trader arrested for naming his dog Buhari has been arraigned in court.

Joachim, who was arrested on August 13, 2016, was arraigned before a Sango Magistrate Court, Ogun State on Monday August 22, 2016.

According to the charge sheet, the trader was said to have conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by naming his of Buhari and parading same at Hausa section of Ketere market in Sango area.

Joachim pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Mastermind Of Abakaliki Jail Break, Awaiting Trial Since 2007- Prisons Boss - Crime -

ABUJA—The mastermind of last Thursday’s attempted jailbreak at the Abakaliki Prisons in Ebonyi state has been at the facility since 2007 awaiting his trial, Vanguard has learned.

Controller-General of the Nigeria Prisons Service NPS, Ja’afaru Ahmed announced this in a statement issued Sunday morning in Abuja.

Prisons authorities did not immediately give further details about the ring-leader including his name, offences and whether he was among the inmates killed in the crossfire.

Built in 1946 with an installed capacity of 387 inmates, the Abakaliki Prisons had 920 inmates as at Thursday. Of the figure, “811 are awaiting trial prisoners leaving just 109 as convicted inmates. The ring leader had in fact, spent about nine years awaiting trial,” he said.

How the incident happened
In the statement signed by the Service Public Relations Officer, Francis Enobore, the CG also gave an insight as to the circumstances leading to the attempted jailbreak.

Cherubim & Seraphim Pastor Arrested For Robbery In Ogun Along With His Member


The Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan, Lagos State, has arrested a 45-year-old pastor, Joseph Olude, and his church member, Rasak Raheem, for allegedly robbing in the Idiroko-Oke Odan area, a border community between Ogun State, Nigeria, and the Benin Republic.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Olude and Raheem were arrested by the operatives of the Zonal Intervention Squad, after a tip-off.

It was learnt that while the police arrested the two suspects, other members of the gang fled.

Our correspondent gathered that on Thursday, August 11, the police received information that a robbery gang was operating in the Idiroko-Oke Odan area, and dispossessing motorists of their valuables.

The police, The Nation gathered, were brought in and as a first step, questioned some of Nunugwo’s cell mates who witnessed how he died.

One of them, Odeh Onoja Jnr., according to an official document, said:  “I reported to the EFCC office on the 9th of June, 2016 in response to the invitation sent to my office to have a chat with me. I was still in the office when the man (Nunugwo) was brought in. The officers obtained his statement after which both of us were conveyed together to their head office for detention.
“We were checked in about 9.30pm and the ‘president’ (of the cell) welcomed us after which he gave us our respective places to sleep”.

The lady pictured above is named Olubunmi Uko, a single mother of three boys who walked out of her Fola- Agoro, Lagos home last Friday at about 5am with her last son, Seun. According to her family members, on the day she went missing, she told her two older sons, Toni and Iyiola that she was going to see someone. When the older children woke up, they found the 7-page suicidal note she wrote to her children, mum and to whom it may concern.

Mayowa Passed On

Cancer patient Mayowa Ahmed has died. She died this afternoon August 21st in a hospital in South Africa after battling Ovarian cancer for a while. She was flown to South Africa on August 11th for treatment after kind-hearted Nigerians raised over N100million for her treatment. Unfortunately, she didn't make it. So sad! May her soul rest in peace, amen.

Senate President Bukola Saraki has come to the plight of the mother of iconic footballer, Rashidi Yekini who died on May 4th 2012. Rashidi's mother, Alhaja Sikirat Yekini, made headline news after photos of her poor living condition was made public some months ago. In reaction to the story, Senate President Bukola Saraki picked up the bill to renovate her home, stocked up her small shop where she sells food items and provided Yekini's younger brother, Akeem Yekini a tricycle for his business. EFCC Arrests Man For Duping ‘wife’ Of N6.7m -


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, has arrested one Chike Nnaemeka, for allegedly tricking an official of the Federal Road Safety Corps into marrying him and paying for the wedding.

Nnaemeka, aka Dr. Justified, was said to have duped his victim, Nkechi Ani, of N6.7m.

The EFCC, in a statement by its spokesman, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, said Nnaemeka, who claimed to be a gynaecologist, allegedly collected the sum under different requests. The victim was reportedly introduced to him by one of her classmates at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State.

People feared dead in failed jail break in Ebonyi

A failed jail break attempt may have resulted in the death of many prisoners at the Abakaliki prison in Ebonyi state this morning. According to reports, the inmates at about 9am started an intense riot in the prison over poor feeding and living condition.

During their protest, the inmates reportedly used dangerous objects on some of the prison officers.

One of the officers reportedly died during the incident. As the protest continued, some of the prisoners broke the wall of the prison and were trying to escape when a combined effort of Prison officers, Nigeria police and Army drafted to the scene teargased them to submission.

The injured inmates and officers are currently receiving medical attention at the Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki, FETHA.
