Change is Possible Beginning Today by Bola Tinubu

Democracy Day statement by National leader Bola Tinubu...
May 29, 2015, shall be recorded in our history as the moment when democracy finally was allowed to participate in Democracy Day. The reason for this is the legion of average Nigerians who voted to make this happen. Should any of you wish to see a true hero of democracy, don’t fret. Just look in the nearest mirror.
The celebrations prior to this were false showings; they were the commemoration of wrong.
The path we have taken to come to this august moment has not been one of easy victory or swift progress.

Instead, it has been a path hewed by the triumph of resilience over broken promises and fraudulent avowals of representative governance. Reaching this fine moment has been a story told in the cadence of the victory of common good over arrogant power.

The voice of the solitary poor man, no one hears. But the votes of the poor became a potent army capable of toppling the very citadel of high privilege in order to bring forth national awakening no less historic and important than the very birth of this nation.

1. I  welcome you all to this occasion of the formal presentation of the Hand-over notes of my Administration to the in-coming Administration of the President-Elect, General Muhammadu Buhari.
2. This event and tomorrow’s inauguration of a new administration are truly historic as it is the first time in the history of our nation that we are witnessing the democratic and orderly transfer of power at the Federal level from one political party to another.

3.   The Hand-over notes which we now present, contain the governance philosophy, strategies, policies, programmes and activities of my Administration for the period - 2011-2015. Also to be found in the notes are the objectives, targets and implementation strategies, achievements and challenges of our key policies, schemes, initiatives as well as the status of commitments and liabilities of the various MDAs.
4.   As we hand over the affairs of the nation, it is appropriate to recall that at inception, in May 2011, we committed ourselves to consolidating national unity through democratization and good governance. Our assessment then, and our firm belief ever since, is that the unity of Nigeria, the security, well-being, greater freedoms and opportunities for all citizens must remain the primary objectives of government.
5.    The Agenda for National Transformation which we did our best to implement consisted of clear and consistent governance strategies, policies, plans, programmes and projects, in all facets of our national life. The governor made this declaration during his 50th birthday thanksgiving service at the Corpus Christi Cathedral in Port Harcourt, while reacting to the plea by the Catholic Bishop of Port Harcourt Diocese, Most Rev. President Alpha Conde of Guinea has expressed confidence in the ability of the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, to fight corruption, adding that Buhari will fight corruption like he has done in his country.

With the election of Buhari, who is a straight forward person that will fight corruption like me, I believe his emergence as President will culminate in a stronger relationship between Guinea and Nigeria.“Before the last general elections in Nigeria, there were anxiety, fear and uncertainty over the land. It was the belief that the country would disintegrate. This is also drawn from the fact that Nigeria fought the Biafra war. The war against Boko Haram was also there which Africa has to jointly fight.”
Conde also described the outcome of the March 28 presidential election and acceptance of defeat by President Goodluck Jonathan as victory for Africa and Nigeria.
He said;
“The election in Nigeria is a victory for Africa and Nigeria, being the biggest black African country. We also congratulate President Goodluck Jonathan for accepting defeat just like President Abdou Diouf of Senegal when he lost the presidential election.”

MAN HAVE HIS THROAT SLICE BY HERBALIST

Itoro, the first son and the breadwinner of the family, was allegedly hacked to death by a herbalist, Ette Okon on Friday, following a misunderstanding.

Rita Emmanuel, a cousin of the  deceased, a commercial motor cyclist, told the story of the murder. According to her, Itoro  lived with his parents in their grass house in  Ikot Abasi Effiom, in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State until he  rented a room in a house close to his parents'. funny enough this is my home town.

“About a month ago, he decided to rent  a room in the next street so that his wife who was about to deliver a baby could have more space and we all agreed that it was okay. He  got a room in  Ette Friday’s house and moved there”.
Rita explained that everything was fine until Ndarake, Itoro’s wife, gave birth and the baby died within days. After  the death of the baby, the wife, according to the cousin, became sick and suffered epileptic seizures.

Friday, described as a herbalist, was said to have claimed he could heal the woman and asked for N5.000 to get materials to heal her.

Rita stated that after Friday took the money, he assured Itoro that his wife would soon recover and commenced treatment but that didn't happen.
Rita said:“Last year, Itoro lost his first wife after she gave birth to their second daughter; so he was worried that his second wife taking care of the two children was going to die too. He asked the herbalist why the state of his wife was getting worse when it ought to be improving since the man had been given the money he demanded and he assured that he would treat the woman . The man did not say anything; he simply went inside his shrine and brought out a machete and cut Itoro’s   throat”.
A resident, who gave his name as Monday, said when people heard Itoro’s cries that night, they rushed to the herbalist’s house and  met Itoro in a pool of blood.

According to him, when  the herbalist saw them, he  threatened them with a machete. This, he said, angered the residents who took matters into their hands, overpowered him, cut his own throat, dumped the body inside the shrine and set the place ablaze.

“The remains of the herbalist were eaten by dogs which he deserves because we could not  understand why he should kill a young man for asking why the state of his wife whom he was treating was worsening rather than improving”.

Mr Hogan Bassey, the spokesman  for the Command, said  the matter was being investigated.

Read What Happened Between Diezani & Buhari During Their Trip To London

Sahara Reports...

Last night’s secretive and rather abrupt trip to London by Nigeria President-Elect Muhammadu Buhari caught several of his political associates unawares, several of them learning about it only when we broke the story.

Asked if the President-Elect had any health issues that may have required urgent travel overnight, they insisted he appears to be healthy.

Meanwhile, sources have told SaharaReporters that the efforts by the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, to speak with Buhari aboard the British Airways aircraft failed abysmally as the President-Elect only greeted her during the boarding process and then quietly settled into his seat 2K in First Class.
The embattled Minister, SaharaReporters learnt, had somehow booked herself into seat 3K, seating directly behind Buhari on the six-hour flight.

Our sources said she rose up a few times and tried to stir up a conversation with the President-Elect, but that he only nodded and let her get back to her seat without permitting any dialogue.
