Fani Kayode Fires Back At Disciplinary Committee

The Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, Mr Femi Fani-Kayode says he cannot break and give in to threats of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)‎ to discipline him for calling for their sack.
He stated this while speaking to newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday. According to him, there are members of the party who had, at different occasions asked for the resignation of the PDP NWC members but they are not persecuted.
He wondered why they want him persecuted. He said as a citizen, he had the right to freely express himself, adding that he would never be cowed or intimidated by the threats from the NWC. “The issue they addressed in their letter will be addressed by the people they wrote their letter to. I will not dignify that kind of rubbish with any kind of response. What I am trying to tell you is that I will not be put on the defensive here,” the former minister said. “Those that need to be on the defensive are those that cheated their party members, Those that lied to their party members, those that betrayed the presidential campaign organization and sought to degrade us and ensured that we couldn’t do our job.”
“These are the people that have questions to answer and I am saying to you, I am reiterating a call of the overwhelming majority of party members, overwhelming number of governors, and overwhelming number of elder statesmen within the party. And that call is simply this, they should resign,” he said. Speaking on the resignation of the National Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu:
“I am glad that about seven hours after I said somebody should resign, somebody listened and stepped down. Every single one of them should go.” “That is the issue for us. And we are happy that Muazu had finally answered the call and done the honorable thing. When will Metuh do it? When will Oladipo do it? When will the rest of them do it? That is what we are waiting for. So it’s not about Femi Fani Kayode. It’s not about my record in public office. What it is about is that their time is long overdue and they need to go,” he added. He, however, insisted on total overhauling of the party with the resignation of other members of the NWC for the party to return to its former glory.
