Actress Charmian Carr is the first Von Trapp sibling to die. She died
after suffering from dementia. She was aged 73. Charmain found fame in
the 1965 classic film, The Sound of Music.
She
was 21 when she played the role of Liesl Von Trapp, the eldest daughter in the musical
family and became known for singing one of its most famous songs, 'I Am Sixteen Going On Seventeen'
Sound of Music was my favourite movie till date, i still can remember all the songs and the movie was so emotional to me, having watching it as a child while growing up.
She wrote two books about her experiences, titled Forever Liesl and Letter to Liesl.
Ms Carr's spokesman Harlan Boll said she died of complications from a rare form of dementia in Los Angeles.
After
Carr left the movie business, she started a design company called
Charmian Carr Design.
She
is survived by daughters Jennifer and Emily, four grandchildren Emma,
Derek, William and Tucker, four siblings Sharon, Darlene, Michael and
Brian
20th Century Fox paid tribute to the star, writing on Twitter: "The
Sound of Music lost a beloved member of the family w/ the passing of
Charmian Carr. She will be forever missed"
Julie Andrews, Christopher and all the other Von Trapp kids are still alive.
May her soul rest in peace, Amen.
