Atahiru Jega, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC) has declined any offer to extend his tenure as the
head of Nigeria’s electoral body.
Jega made this known yesterday, April 1, in an interview with the Hausa Service of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC Hausa) where he said he was not interested in tenure renewal and would not accept an offer of extension.He said:
“I am grateful to God. I was asked to come and contribute my own quota
to the national development and I have done my bit to the best of my
ability.
