Social crusader, and singer Charles Oputa better known as Charly Boy, has debunked the financial controversies surrounding the burial of his late father, late Justice Chukwudifu Oputa.
There were claims that the Imo state government had given about N50, 000,000 for the burial of the Justice Chukwudifu Oputa whom Charly Boy says was uncalled for .
According to the Area father as he is popularly called, stated that it was wrong for such an announcement to be made at a public gathering making the villagers think that it was government money that was used in making the burial plans.
“They said it was N50million. Do you know the implication of that announcement? They put my life on the line. Villagers thought government has brought money, na so all of them open mouth. Why making public any amount given to us for the burial? N20million or N50 million wasn’t all we spent for my father’s burial. As I talk with you, I don enter gbese (debt),” he stated.
“The burial of my father was second to none in Oguta. It was carnival like. There were jumbo posters of my dad scattered around our own. We gave him a befitting burial. My father will not die twice,” he noted.
