The chairman also said this is not the first time a thing
like this will happen and wants the government to ban the group
immediately. Read the press statement from the Local Government
It seems there is no
end in sight in the destructive and nefarious activities of the Community
Policing Youth Vanguard that was set up by the Area ‘E’ Commander, ACP Dan
Okoro. The group was seen attacking council officials, Neighbourhood Watchers
of Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area at Alakija, as well as, attacking the
Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Comrade Ayodele Adewale,
who narrowly missed death.
According to Comrade Adewale, while narrating the incidence
to journalists stated that “Some members of the environmental task force and
Neighbourhood Watchers were performing their lawful duty at Alakija, when some
members of the Community Policing Youth
Vanguard that was set up by the Area ‘E’ Commander, ACP Dan Okoro, came to
attack them with dangerous weapons. What baffled me was that they even have the
effrontery to come to the Local Government Secretariat with guns, machetes and
bottles to attack me, inside the Local Government, while I was holding a
meeting with the representative of Millennium Development Goals, Mr. Rotimi who
has come from the Presidency.”
He further stressed that “what surprised me the most is that
the police attached to Festac Police Station and Area E Command were just watching
the drama, refusing to give us protection, and arrest the hoodlums.”
The Local Government boss noted that the Local Government
would not give in to hoodlums, and once again reiterated his stand that the
Community Policing Youth Vanguard set up by Area E Commander, ACP Dan Okoro
should be banned, before hell is let loose in the Local Government.
It will be recalled that the same group also damaged and
vandalized Local Government projects sign posts during the March 2014,
environmental sanitation.
