Dangote Turns Down PDP Offer To Run For President In 2019

 
Billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote has rejected moves by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to get him to contest in the 2019 presidential race on its platform.

According to Daily Times, Dangote declared categorically in a phone interview that he has no interest in politics and nobody or party should tie him to it.He said: “I am an entrepreneur.

My passion is to create jobs for Nigerians and not otherwise. “I am not interested in politics and this is authoritative. No member of any think tank committee has contacted me.

Police Deploy More Officers To South-East, S’south; To Stop Kanu From Fleeing

The police have increased the numerical strength of their personnel in the South-East and South-South zones of the country as part of measures to prevent a breach of the peace, which may result from the activities of Biafran agitators ahead of the upcoming Anambra State governorship election, Saturday PUNCH has learnt.

And apart from the Mobile Police Force operatives, the force told Saturday PUNCH on Friday that it had deployed the Counter-Terrorism unit, the Intelligence unit and other conventional policemen, who would work with the state commands in the South-East and South-South zones.

Police Arrested Me Because Of My Dressing, Murder Suspect Confesses

 
A 27-year-old suspected murderer, Prince Amadi, said he was arrested recently, by policemen because of his mode of dressing, in Port Harcourt.

Amadi had been at large since December 19, 2016, when he allegedly stabbed someone to death at Aker Base waterfront, in Rumuolumeni,. He was apprehended on Monday, August 21, 2017, along Nkpordiagha Road.
