Hoodlums Amoo street, in the Agege area of Lagos state yesterday Jan. 10th shot dead a police corporal identified as Sunday David (pictured above) attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Lagos State Police Command.

According to the Tribune, the police officer was allegedly killed in retaliation for killing two people in the area during a protest. Residents of the area say trouble started when an internet fraudster simply identified as Obey was accosted by some street urchins and asked to give them some money.

When he could not satisfy their demand and they in turn will not allow him go, the fraudster called on the police officer for help. On getting to the scene of the incident, the police officer shot into the air, some report say he shot into the crowd, hitting two of the street urchins named Sulaimon and Segun, who died.

The policeman and the 'Yahoo Boy' tried to escape in a car but the angry street urchins chased them in a motorbike, caught up with them and killed both men.

Speaking on the incident, the Lagos state police spokesperson, Joe Offor, confirmed the incident but denied claims that the deceased killed two people. He said further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
